The gameplay of Artifact: The Dota Card Game takes place on a variety of cards.
Summary
When the game was initially announced during the second evening of the 2017 Internationals, very little was included in the teaser video. When broadcaster Sean "Day9" Plott described the game, however, he stated:

Because of this, and the wide comparisons to Hearthstone, it's assumed that the game will play out over both boards and cards.
